2013 Calendar 

If you are holding this calendar, you have just joined us in a wonderful mission to serve children, honor our fallen firefighters, share history, and encourage our Kansas firefighters maintaining and improving their health and fitness levels.

Our mission in regards to Coats For Kids is to reach out to serve children in poverty.

This includes, homeless children, children who seem to fall between the cracks, and families who are experiencing layoffs and dramatic loss of income, yet do not qualify for aid. A variety of sources help us identify kids who can benefit from our hard work. These sources include social workers, teachers, and firefighters. They, in turn, refer the children for our special “shopping day with a firefighter.”

Last year we served over 600 children in Kansas.

The Kansas Firefighters Museum continues to help schools with the cost of field trips by dropping the admission costs dramatically and inviting those schools to bring students to learn about Kansas firefighting history. An additional goal for future funds raised is to expand the building and create a fire prevention education area which will be kid-friendly.

Not only do we hope to accomplish the above goals, but we also hope to promote health and fitness for our Kansas firefighters. Why? Too many firefighters have died in the line of duty in our state. Heart attacks are the number one killers of firefighters. We encourage firefighters to continue to stay healthy and fit in order to survive the daily challenges that this job puts on their bodies.

Each year, firefighters from across the state are selected based on health and fitness, their service to their communities, and their team efforts within their departments. A judging event is held every year with local celebrity judges helping in the final selection.

We could not produce this third Kansas Firefighter Calendar without the wonderful support of our sponsors and you. Producing this calendar allows us to support local kids in several different ways by keeping them warm for the winter, providing fire prevention education, sharing Kansas firefighting history, and encouraging our Kansas firefighters in maintaining and improving their health and fitness levels.
